Matthew Hase-Liu

I am a fourth-year PhD student at Columbia interested in algebraic geometry and number theory. More specifically, I like to think about etale cohomology, moduli spaces of curves on smooth hypersurfaces, the circle method, multiple Dirichlet series, and geometric Manin's conjecture. My advisor is Will Sawin.

This semester, I am:

  • teaching Calculus I at Columbia
  • mentoring a student on enumerative combinatorics and cyclotomic polynomials for the Directed Reading Program
  • giving some talks on multiple Dirichlet series (at the Philadelphia area NT seminar) and the circle method (at the Harvard-MIT AG seminar)
  • attending an AIM workshop on "Nilpotent counting problems in arithmetic statistics"
  • attending a conference on "Moduli spaces and Arithmetic"
