Title: Smoothing normal crossings spaces
Abstract: In the article Smoothing Toroidal Crossing Spaces, Filip, Ruddat and me gave a very general smoothing theorem for toroidal crossing spaces. In the talk, I will explain this result for the more specific normal crossing spaces, for which the theory is particularly appealing. Although the machinery heavily relies on logarithmic geometry, no prior knowledge thereof will be necessary to follow the talk.
