The MAFN Program equips the students with the skills to not only succeed academically but also give them the professional development tools and resources to succeed in the job market. gsas career development services
All students in our program are able to use the career development resources provided by GSAS Compass, which services all master’s and doctoral students in the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. Those services include:
- Job and Internship Platform
- One-on-one Career Advising
- General Career Development Resources
- Events and Workshops
m.A. Mathematics of finance (mafn) tailored career development program
- Virtual August career development training
- One-on-one career advising during students’ time in the program and beyond
- Industry-specific career workshops including technical mock interviews, salary negotiation workshops etc.
- Networking events with alumni of the program
- MAFN Alumni Mentorship Program
- MAFN-specific company presentations, on-campus interviews, exclusive internship, and job openings
Employment Statistics
The majority of our students find their first jobs in Investment Banks, Financial Services, Asset Management, Consulting, and Technology.
Class of 2023
There were 117 students (part-time and full-time) graduating with the MAFN degree in February & May 2023.
Two of those students were not looking for a job (they continued in academia or have other plans), 15 students were missing (we were not able to track them despite several attempts in the span of 6 months).
The employment data is based on 100 students who were looking for a job.
JOBS LANDED BEFORE GRADUATION: 78 out of 100 students landed jobs before graduation. 74% of those jobs are based in the US.
JOBS LANDED WITHIN 3 MONTHS OF GRADUATION: 90 out of 100 students were employed within 3 months of graduation. 76% of those jobs are in the US
JOBS LANDED WITHIN 6 MONTHS OF GRADUATION: 97 out of 100 students got jobs within 6 months of graduation 73% of those jobs are based in the US

53 were looking for employment
53 were hired within 3 months of graduation (46 got offers before graduation, 7 after graduation)
