We will approach the subject from 2 different directions. Starting with talks on both Topology and Galois Theory we will see how these subjects collide together and what mathematical ideas we can get from this intertwining.

The Topology part will include Fundamental Groups, Covering Spaces and Surfaces. The Galois Theory part will include Field Extensions, Solvability of Algebraic Equations and Galois Theory itself. We will also step on Lagrange Resolvents and see how they are applied in different areas of math.

The seminar will be mostly based on the book Topological Galois Theory. Note that university affiliates can download this book through SpringerLink.
