Spring Semester 2025 Student Probability Seminar

Welcome to the Columbia Student Probability Seminar. In this seminar, we will study the paper Lectures On Integrable Probability: Stochastic Vertex Models and Symmetric Functions. Here is a link to the paper. Our talks will be held in room 528 on Tuesday from 5:00PM to 6:00PM.

Schedule of Talks

Date Speaker content
02/04 Xinyi Zhang We will talk about the introduction and chapter two of the notes on stochastic vertex models and symmetric functions
02/11 Xinyi Zhang We will talk about the semi-infinite operators and several Cauchy-ype identities from the Yang-Baxter commutation relations.
02/18 Jiahe Shen We will discuss the explicit formulas for the non-skew symmetric functions and explain how these symmetrization formulas are obtained.
02/25 Jiahe Shen We explained the q-exchangeable distribution, fusions of stochastic weights and principal specializations of skew functions.
03/04 Jiahe Shen We will discuss the paper, https://arxiv.org/pdf/2110.03942. It studies the distribution of root fo a random p-adic polynomila in an algebraic closure of Qp.
03/11 Victor Hugo Daniel I will give a mock oral exam practice talk. The research topic is random graphs.
04/02 Hindy Drillick This is a practice talk for thesis defense. The topic for the talk is Hydrodynamic limits and fluctuations for interacting particle systems.
