Bridgeland stability on threefolds

We will present a conjectural framework, introduced in joint work with
Bayer, Bertram, and Toda, to show the existence of Bridgeland
stability conditions on smooth projective threefolds.  We will
also give possible applications to birational geometry and
sketch the proof in the case of abelian threefolds.
