Number Theory and Partitions: The Legacy of Dyson and Ramanujan -- Ken Ono, December 3, 2003

I will discuss the mathematics of partition theory. In particular, I will 
discuss the story of Ramanujan, the legendary Indian number theorist, and 
describe some of his most famous discoveries. In addition, I will describe 
some conjectures of Freeman Dyson, the celebrated British physicist, which 
were inspired by Ramanujan's work. I will conclude the lecture with a brief 
overview of some of advances that have been made in the subject over the last 
few years.
