Morse theory and homology -- Atanas Atanasov

We will start by discussing the historic development of the subject, and recalling some of its applications in geometry and topology. The majority of the talk will be devoted to motivating and developing classical Morse theory. Definitions will be accompanied by examples where possible. If time permits we will talk about homology, models on loop spaces, and some recent reformulations of the theory.

The majority of the talk should be accessible. Nevertheless, basic differential topology will be helpful.
