Topological K-theory -- Atanas Atanasov

We will construct an extraordinary cohomology theory known as topological K-theory. In doing so, various pieces of interesting mathematics will be discussed, including additive/monoidal categories, the Grothendieck group/ring, loop spaces, and classifying spaces. The Bott Periodicity Theorem will play a central role in this exposition. Time permitting, we may outline how to apply the "K-theory" philosophy in other contexts.
