Dirichlet's Theorem on Primes in Arithmetic Progressions -- Atanas Atanasov

This result of Dirichlet is considered to mark the beginning of analytic number theory. Its original proof brings together analytic and algebraic techniques together, which was quite innovative for its time. We will give a slightly modernized version of the original proof using character theory and complex analysis.

(The proof is self contained and requires a minimal amount of group theory and some elementary analysis.)
