Today's assignment is to LISTEN to one of Bach's most remarkable church cantatas in its entirety, and to PRINT and fill out the accompanying questionnaire.
This cantata, Wachet auf, has some dramatic qualities, but it was not staged. It was written for a Sunday church service, like Bach's 200 other sacred cantatas. It was performed on November 25, 1731 in Leipzig.
